Messaging platform WhatsApp has just got a very rare makeover. It has been upgraded with the Android 5.0 Material Design. With this, there are also changes to the interface. These changes include newer icons, animations and a modified emoji tray. This latest version is the WhatsApp build version 2.12.38.
Aside from the interface, Android users will also be able to make WhatsApp calls after they download the update. Previously, one needed to receive an incoming WhatsApp call first.
The update is not available on Google Play Store as of now. It will be rolling out OTA (over-the-air) soon enough. But it can be downloaded by clicking on the following link. This link will lead you to the apk file version. With the update, the task bar in WhatsApp has been merged with chats, contacts and calls sections.
Notably, WhatsApp was recently in the news as it announced that the voice calling feature would soon be rolling out to Windows Phone users as well. At present, the calling feature is only available to Android users.
